Privacy policy
Kitchin plans your household's meals for the week. To do that it needs to know a little about how your home eats. This page says what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to delete it.
What we collect
Your account
- Sign in with Google:your name, email address and Google account ID. We ask Google for your basic profile and email only; we can't see your contacts, files or anything else in your Google account, and we never post anything.
- Without signing in: a random ID created on your phone, so your plan can be kept on our server without an account.
Your household
- Your answers to the setup questions: how many people eat at home, your diet (for example pure veg or Jain), allergies and foods to avoid, fasting (vrat) days, which meals to plan, and anything you type under “Anything else we should know?”, saved as short tags.
- Your weekly meal plans, swaps, grocery lists and items you add to them.
- Whether you'd make a dish again, and the reason you pick if not.
- Recipes you import from a link, including the link itself.
The website
- If you join the waitlist on inmykitchin.com, the email address you enter.
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos or payment card details, and the app has no advertising or analytics trackers. Meal reminders are scheduled on your phone.
Why we use it
- To plan meals that fit your diet, allergies and fasting days, and to build the grocery list from them.
- To keep your plan and recipes in your account, so they follow you to a new phone when you sign in.
- To turn a cooking video link into a recipe you can save.
- To email you about the launch, if you joined the waitlist.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
We use a few services to run Kitchin. Each one only gets what it needs for its job:
- Google Sign-In confirms who you are when you sign in.
- Google Gemini reads the video link you paste (and its title and description) to pull out the recipe. Your household details are not sent with it.
- YouTubeprovides a video's title and description when you import a YouTube link.
- Vercel hosts our server, in India (Mumbai). Your account and plans are stored there.
- Google Sheets holds the website waitlist.
- Google Play handles any subscription payment; we never see your card details.
We'll share information if the law requires it, and otherwise not at all.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and household data while you use Kitchin. A link you import is read once and kept in memory for up to 24 hours so the preview and the save don't read it twice; the saved recipe stays in your account until you delete it.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Profile → Delete account. This deletes your account and everything in your household: answers, plans, lists, feedback and imported recipes. If you pay for Kitchin House, cancel the subscription in Google Play first. You can also email us at inmykitchin@gmail.com to have your account or waitlist email deleted, or to ask for a copy of your data.
Children
Kitchin is meant for adults running a household, and isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app for any important change.
